In any case, there are plenty of other ways in which Cumberbatch’s face deviates from the norm; his skeletal structure is longer and leaner than the average, he has a combination of masculine and feminine traits (heavy brows versus full lips, for example) and his eyes have a unique upward slant that is unusual in the middle of a gingery Caucasian face. But more than anything else, it is the dramatically asymmetrical way his face shows expression which makes the subconscious do a double take.→
